Romancier, nouvelliste, biographe, critique littéraire, enseignant, auteur de plus de soixante adaptations du répertoire théâtral international et de livrets d’opéra, Jacques De Decker (1945-2020) était membre de l’Académie royale de langue et de littérature françaises de Belgique depuis 1997 et en fut le secrétaire perpétuel de 2002 à 2019, tout en siégeant à la Koninklijke Academie voor Nederlandse Taal en Letteren.

« Je vais promener ma truffe », avait-il l’habitude de lancer lorsqu’il partait à la recherche d’histoires, d’objets et d’inspirations pour nourrir ses nouveaux projets. Storyteller, novelist, biographer, literary critic, teacher, author of more than 60 adaptations for theatre and opera, Jacques De Decker (1945-2020) was a member of the Royal Academy of French Language and Literature of Belgium since 1997 and its Permanent Secretary from 2002 until 2019, whilst at the same time being a member of the Royal Academy of Dutch Language and Literature of Belgium.

He’d say ‘Je vais promener ma truffe‘, when wandering off in search of stories, objects and inspiration for his new projects. In this volume, some two hundred of his friends and fellow travelers share their memories, through photography and painting, prose and poetry, music and drawing.
